Position: Community Host and Event Specialist

Spherion, in partnership with American Family Insurance and the Institute for Corporate and Social Impact (Institute), is currently recruiting for a Community Host and Event Specialist. This position requires working 100% on-site at the Institute, facilitating and curating daily positive guest experiences.

Pay is $20/hr.


The schedule is for 5 – 20 hours a week.


The availability needed for this role is M-Sat 7:30am – 7pm CST. The part-time shifts will be within this availability.

Temporary assignment with 6 months duration with possible extension.

Must be 100% vaccinated to enter the American Family campus.

    • Creating a positive, welcoming, and inclusive climate and warmly greeting each participant and guest to Institute event spaces.
      Providing a high level of customer service to all guests and vendors.
      Remaining present and in service of those we’re hosting and the work they’re doing in the community.


Space Activation

      • Opening and closing the event space.
      • Reviewing event details and preparing event spaces by setting-up, rearranging and resetting event furniture and resources as needed.
      • Assisting event leads and guests with AV needs and possible troubleshooting.
      • Maintaining space signage and chalkboards.
      • Maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary event spaces and Community Kitchen, which includes maintenance of coffee/tea station, refrigerator, dishwasher, and other areas.
      • Maintaining inventory of resources and supplies and stocking and organizing event spaces.
      • Checking the working order of technology throughout the space regularly.


Operational Excellence

        • Performing Institute space tours/introductions on occasion.
        • Developing and maintaining working relationships with appropriate staff.
        • Monitoring and communicating successes and/or concerns to the Community Manager on a consistent basis.
        • Helping document space metrics.
          Assisting with miscellaneous Institute projects and other duties as assigned.



  • Applicants must have an interest, background, and skill in working with the public and interacting with individuals and groups to foster a positive customer experience.
  • Some hospitality and/or customer service experience preferred.


Minimal Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and being excited to openly communicate with all guests.

  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated.

  • High school graduate, dependable, interested in working with the public and has a positive attitude.

  • Interest in the work of the Institute and ability to convey that to the public and guests using the space.

  • Ability to attend scheduled work shifts, mandatory training, and meetings.

  • Having a very flexible schedule to accommodate the coverage needs of the space.
